Eurasian Century Institute (ECI), Islamabad held an online consultative meeting with Embassy of Pakistan in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on January 12, 2021. Pakistan’s ambassador to Uzbekistan H.E. Syed Ali Asad Gilani and Dr. Talat Shabbir, patron-in-chief of ECI co-chaired the meeting
Irfan Shahzad Takalvi, founding head of ECI gave a detailed briefing about ECI’s vision and work done so far, on Central Asia / Eurasia at large and Uzbekistan in particular. ECI panel, also including Ms. Hina Habib, Research Fellow, shared their understanding of the re-emerging supercontinent of Eurasia, Central Asian Republics (CARs) and Uzbekistan as well as geo-politics and geo-economics involved in the emerging milieu.
The ambassador enlightened the ECI team with his detailed, insightful and comprehensive account of contemporary Eurasia and significance of evolving dynamics from a Pakistani perspective. Waseem Shahzad, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) and Col. Aezaz Aizad Amin, Military Attaché at the Embassy also participated in the meeting. ECI resolved that as a dedicated new set-up focussing on academic research on Eurasia from a Pakistani perspective, the Institute would try its level best to help and facilitate the country’s policy-makers as and where so feasible.
